Perhaps a bit prophetic of our times

"It is a very spiritually challenging book. So many blessings and benefits we enjoy now (especially the complete written Word of God and our freedom to worship) compared to Polycarp's day make me think our modern church world is very "wimpy." But, oh, how blessed it would have been to have known, worked with "those whose ears have heard, whose eyes have seen and whose hands have handled the Word of Life!!" (1 John 1:1) I admired the way that you depicted Polycarp's growth in grace and faith. From a pagan past to a stalwart example of the saving grace of God. Excellent well written book and who knows, perhaps a bit prophetic of our times." (J.B. from Ohio)

I would recommend it to anyone

"Great book I would recommend it to anyone. I love it!" (M.M. of Pennsylvania)

Real excitement and lots of encouragement

"Polycarp, a destroyer of our gods is an innovative novel in that it aims to use historical characters, that we have few facts about, to promote Christian discipleship. The discipleship exampled focuses on experiencing God's grace as a guiding force. Polycarp narrates his life in retrospect to relate how the Lord, by grace, used mentors to help grow him in faith, virtue, and obedience that climaxed in his faithful heroic stand.
Polycarp, a destroyer of our gods advances a particular discipleship approach that encourages the mentor to help the one being discipled to experientially discover the beautiful ornament that grace is to the faithful even in the face of death. This book has some real excitement and lots of encouragement to see, and help others to see, God's grace drawing us to Himself." (J. G. of Ohio)

Hope is given and purpose for this life

This is a riveting novel, wonderfully written.  As you continue reading, you find yourself drawn into the reality of Polycarp’s life, and before you know it you are living it with him.  It is a power-packed book that allows one to view themselves as they really are.  Hope is given and purpose for this life, as well as for the life to come.  While being filled with insight and historical information, it challenges you to open your eyes to what most people miss.  Courage and strength in the midst of trials are promoted, as people struggle to live out their faith.

Mankind’s love of self, desire to be in control, and a hatred of being wrong, bring the determination of pride to the forefront.  Along with this, the depths of evil come gushing out into cruel persecution and destruction.

On the other hand, mankind’s love of the only True God, of truth, of righteousness, and a hatred of sin, bring a willing submission and a determination of humility.  Climbing to the heights of integrity pushes one into exciting spiritual growth focusing on edification through godly service.

At the root of it all is God’s perfect plan of the ages.  This he works in his way through his will in each of our lives.  In the process, our “gods” are destroyed one way or the other.  (Our response it crucial.)

To the heroes of this book we owe a sincere following, but God we owe our total commitment, focus, and obedience, laying aside all other distractions that hinder us.

To the author, we send a hearty “thank-you” for his patience, hard work, travel to research, money spent to write, construct, print and promote the book, and for all the agonizing moments given to decide the contents and the correct sequence of events.

I appreciated the book’s pre-ceased cover over the binding, resulting in less stress on, and a longer life to the book.

The novel is very much needed in a day when hatred and violence are all around, apathy, laziness, along with a lack of self-discipline and biblical study.  This work honors God, and will endure to have a lasting effect on all those who are willing to read it.

The book is excellent

"…Your book is excellent. I have given it to my pastor to read and he gave it a great endorsement. …I will be 88 this year, and I am still growing in the Lord with Bible classes and involved in many activities. I enjoy life and am very blessed…. I do pray that your book will become a best seller. It should be!"
